Returning to the Deakin University Elite Women’s Road Race for a second time, the Belgium team will be one to watch. Among its ranks is the Portuguese Road Race and Time Trial Champion, the Belgian Road Race Champ and the French Individual Time Trial Title holder.
The French outfit competes in Geelong and Torquay for the first time in 2020. With strong climber Brodie Chapman lining up alongside her new team mates including Lauren Kitchen and French champ Jade Wiel, the team will be a strong chance for the overall.
With the 2020 National Road Race Champion Amanda Spratt at the helm, Mitchelton-SCOTT could be about to register its third Deakin Women’s Race crown. The Australian team is rounded out with a line-up of both seasoned pros and rising stars.
With 2018 winner Chloe Hosking now riding with America’s Rally Cycling, the team is highly likely to take a tilt at the Deakin Women’s Race title in 2020. The Australian sprinter will play a mentor role at Rally, but is also keen to add to her palmares.
This year, after a successful 2019, the team is taking a step up to the UCI Continental level. Starting in Australia, the team will then head to Europe and America during the 2020 season. Look for spearhead 11-time Australian Champion Peta Mullens.
For the first time Team Sunweb will race both its Men’s and Women’s UCI WorldTour programs in Geelong. The Women’s WorldTeam will feature road captain Julia Soek and young riders former German Road Race Champion Liane Lippert and Frenchwoman Juliette Labous.
Trek-Segafredo entered the women’s peloton in 2019 and the depth of talent is extraordinary. With one day specialists in the team and a number of strong support riders, don’t be surprised if you see stars like Lotta Henttala and Ruth Winder finishing in the top bunch.
